Privacy Policy

What data do we collect?

MMR Research Associates may ask for:

  • Survey data:  questionnaire/survey responses and general feedback may include questions concerning race/ethnicity, marital status, employment status, occupation, sexual orientation and identity, political affiliation, union membership, and health conditions.

  • Identity information:  name(s), year of birth, video images.

  • Contact information:  physical address, email address, or telephone number

  • Financial Information: income range, financial products owned and through which company

    • MMR will never ask for or collect account numbers, login information, passwords, geolocation data from devices, or IP addresses, and does not/ cannot/ will not receive this type of information from 3rd parties.

  • Marketing/communication information:  newsletter and promotional information preferences

 

How do we collect data?

  • Data is collected through voluntary survey research

  • Opt-in requests for information concerning MMR Research Associates through our website or conference attendance.

  • Voluntary placement of cookies while viewing our website (Please see MMR’s Cookie Policy:  https://www.mmrresearch.com/cookies)

 

How do we use personal data?

  • No personal information is shared with third parties for the purposes of marketing or sales.

  • Personal data is never sold.  Using the definition of “sold” in the CCPA, this means we do not rent, release, disclose disseminate, make available, or transfer for monetary or other valuable consideration.

  • No third party can contact individuals without expressed, verifiable consent from the person whose data is collected.

  • Use of Personal Data For Survey Research:

    • To contact individuals who opt-in for project-specific follow-up surveys

    • To send Invitations to MMR Business to Business Surveys     

    • To process and send survey incentives

      • MMR shares email addresses only with services like Amazon.com or Starbucks to fulfill incentives

    • Information provided by individuals is not associated with name, identity, or contact information.

    • Anonymized raw data may be shared with our client company; including demographic information, if the individual provides it

    • Quotes from typed responses may be used along with aggregated demographic information in reports and raw data sets.

  • Use of Personal Data for Visitors to www.mmrresearch.com:

    • Functionality cookies that allow MMR to operate the site according to visitors’ choices.  These may contain usernames and site preferences.

    • Analytical cookies that allow MMR and third-party services to collect aggregated data for statistical purposes on how our visitors use the website.  These do not contain personal information and are used to help us improve the website’s user experience.

  • Companies with whom we can share information:

    • In addition to the sources above, information may be shared with IntelliSurvey for the purpose of sending research survey invitations and survey programming.  Their privacy policy can be viewed here: https://www.intellisurvey.com/privacy-policy

 

What data protection rights are available with MMR’s social media presence?

  • MMR has an official presence on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter and has no control over the information individuals share.  Individuals who interact with MMR on social media should not share personal information (phone number, mailing, or email address) on these sites.

 

How do we store data?

  • MMR Research Associates securely stores data in the Microsoft Azure Cloud.

 

How long is data retained?

  • For Survey Research:

    • Names, emails, and physical addresses are deleted from servers and backups once a project is closed.   This is normally no more than 3 months from collection.

    • Raw survey data containing race/ethnicity, marital status, employment status, occupation, sexual orientation and identity, political affiliation, union membership, health conditions, year of birth, income range, and financial products owned and through which company is stored indefinitely; however, the data is anonymized and cannot be associated with any individual.

    • Upon opt-out, all personal information collected is deleted from servers and backups.

 

What data protection rights do individuals have?

MMR ensures individuals are fully aware of their data protection rights.  Each individual, but particularly those in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Montana, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Virginia, has the right to:

  • Know the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected about them; the business purpose for collecting personal information; and the third parties with whom we share personal information.

  • Have any non-anonymized personal data erased, remain undisclosed, or not processed.  “Non-anonymized data” is data containing information that is identifiable to a specific person.  For the data MMR collects, this would include email address, facial image(s), name(s), date/year of birth, physical address, and/or telephone number.  Since MMR does not sell or share PII with third parties (except as stated above), PII can be quickly and easily deleted from our systems and our third-party provider (IntelliSurvey) is contracted to prevent using this data for their own purposes.

  • Opt-out of the sharing or use of their personal information by contact.

    • Everyone, regardless of state or country of residence, is entitled to opt-out by using one of the following methods:

  • Receive copies of their personal data.

  • Have the personal data we have collected from you deleted.

  • Correct or fill in any information they believe is inaccurate or incomplete.

  • Have an authorized agent make a request on their behalf with written authorization from the individual.

  • Exercise their right to data protection without discrimination from MMR.

  • Initiate a private cause of action for data breaches.

  • Have MMR transfer personal data to the individual or another entity.

    • Only personally identifiable data can be transferred.  Anonymized data is proprietary and cannot be transferred.  “Anonymized data” contain no information that can identify a specific person such as facial image(s), name(s), date/year of birth, physical address, email address, or telephone number.

  • In order to reasonably assure the requestor’s legal right to make any of the requests above, MMR will verify the PII we received (email, address, date/year of birth, telephone number, and/or, if necessary, a government issued ID such as a Driver’s License, ID card, or Passport).  MMR Research will respond to all requests within 30 days.

What about children's privacy?

  • While legally children aged 13 to 16 can provide their own consent for the collection, use, or sale of their personal information; MMR does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18 without parental consent.
